While traveling in Europe a year ago last spring, during the first part of a trip that was to last over six weeks, I was suddenly faced with a heavy cold. My husband stated that this was nothing more or less than an aggressive suggestion of mortal mind that was attempting to invade consciousness and rob us of our planned and rightful activity. We felt our trip had a correct motive, as we were to meet and travel with two sons now living outside the United States— a long-looked-forward-to reunion.

Before starting we had both prayed faithfully to understand that God's guidance and harmony, ever with man, would be with us on the trip, and we now declared that this prayerful work was effective and could not be reversed. Much gratitude for the guidance and direction we had experienced thus far was expressed. We included in that gratitude the anticipation and expectancy of nothing but God-provided harmony at all times on our trip.

The argument that, previously, colds had loomed as formidable, taking time to be overcome, was met by knowing that error had always been unreal and that it was unreal right now. We learn in Christian Science that evil has no history.
