Perception of spiritual identity, not acclaim from others, brings true happiness

RECOGNITION

There are people the world over who are struggling, striving, and elbowing for what they term recognition. What they are seeking so zealously are fame, popularity, and applause. They covet human approval for themselves and for their business and social schemes and projects.

This is a far cry from the meaning of recognition given in one dictionary as "perception of identity as already known." The study of Christian Science enables us to appreciate the importance and potency of this perception, or recognition, in our daily experience. We learn that God, Spirit, is cause, Mind, Principle, the one creating and governing power of the universe. This teaching agrees with the true record of creation set forth in the first chapter of Genesis Cause is expressed in effect; Mind is manifested in ideas; and this expression, this manifestation, is termed creation, an all-inclusive word used to designate man and the universe. Creation, being the outcome of God, must be entirely good and spiritual. Through studying and pondering these facts of creation we discover that the dictionary statement "as already known" in its spiritual significance means known by God, the all-knowing and only Mind, who beholds man as idea, spiritual, perfect, free.

In the Bible we read (I Cor. 13:12), "Then shall I know even as also I am known." As I am known by whom? we ask. By God, the Father-Mother of the universe, including man; by omnipresent love, whose man is Love's expression, pure and whole.
