When I first entered a Christian Science...

When I first entered a Christian Science Reading Room about nine years ago, I was healed of grief. I was to be married, and then our plans were changed, and I was left alone for three years. One day I was led to the Reading Room. The librarian saw my need for help, and I was lovingly told about God, in accordance with the definition of "God" as given by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p. 587): "The great I am; the all-knowing, all-seeing, all-acting, all-wise, all-loving, and eternal; Principle; Mind; Soul; Spirit; Life; Truth; Love; all substance; intelligence." My healing has been permanent.

I also had a physical healing with the help of a practitioner. The condition, acute inflammation of the kidneys, was alarming, but I was healed in a day and a half. I have also been healed of warts and of a sprained ankle, and I had a healing of decayed teeth. The dentist had said that I had several decayed teeth, but when I returned to him I was told that my teeth were in perfect condition.

I am grateful to God for our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, who gave us the textbook, Science and Health. I am grateful for the Reading Rooms, for class instruction, and for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church.—(Mrs.) Mary P. Nichols, Chicago, Illinois.
