God Our Strength

The words, "God is my strength," uttered in substance by many Scriptural characters, are a statement of actual fact for every one of God's creatures, Christian Science shows. In accordance with Bible teaching, God is clearly revealed in this Science as infinite strength or power; and the universe and man are found to be, in their real, spiritual character, the expression of His nature. They are the direct showing forth of God Himself. God, the divine Principle, Love, is therefore the real substance and strength of all that exists.

As this great fact dawns upon the student of Christian Science, he finds it disposing of many a limiting misconception concerning strength—his own and that of others. He perceives, for example, that strength is not derived from matter or the human body, and hence is not subject to their restrictions and hazards. He sees that it is omnipresent, and everywhere adequately available, because it is of God. He sees that, for the same reason, time and age have nothing to do with strength; that it is not less available for any individual at one time than another; also, that it is by nature infinite and inexhaustible, incapable of fatigue, and allied always with assurance and joy. He sees, moreover, that it is never beyond control, but is forever under the perfect dominion of Mind, the dominion reflected by man. All these, Christian Science reveals as present spiritual facts about strength.

What is it, then, that one to deal with when strength appears to be absent or inadequate? And how is it to be dealt with scientifically? The trouble under any such conditions, obviously, is not an actual absence of strength. The trouble is only a seeming absence, a false mental picture or belief; and it is to be corrected, as Christian Science has proved many times, by the clear recognition of Truth.
