Item of Interest

The Committees on Publication in five New England states and New York have done much relief work since the hurricane which swept through these states last September, and as this work has now been brought to a close, those who have made it possible through their generous contributions to the Relief Fund of The Mothe Church will rejoice to learn that much good was accomplished.

Individuals, both Christian Scientists and non-Christian Scientists, have been assisted in taking up their activities with renewed hope. More than eighty churches of other denominations whose edifices were damaged, were also assisted in handling their problems caused by the hurricane. Recognition has been given to this work by published articles, while there have been many expressions of gratitude, of which the following are typical.

Letters from individuals contain such expressions as: "It will assist me materially, but the spiritual help it is giving me is greater;" "When I opened and read your letter I just kneeled down and thanked God for the love and kindness given me in this time of need;" "The check came to me at a time when I was indeed finding it difficult to hold to the truth and know that God always has supplied and always will supply every human need;" "I know of no words which can convey to you my sincere thanks for what you have done for me; and it will always remain in my mind, what a blessing I have received through your kindness to me, that I am not homeless, but have my home again in which I can spend my years in peace, through your kindness and good will."
