THE LECTURES

Virgil O. Strickler delivered a lecture on Christian Science under the auspices of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass., in the church edifice at Falmouth, Norway, and St. Paul streets. The lecturer was introduced by the first reader of The Mother Church, John C. Lathrop, who said:—

There is no doubt but that the world is growing better. Unmistakable signs of improvement are evident on every side. Efforts for reform and progress have steadily prevailed, and by encouraging degrees are surmounting the sin, the superstition, and the ignorance of the past. The present is bright with promise, and to those who have eyes that see and ears that hear it is even joyous with the prospect of inevitable victory over all that opposes complete spiritual realization.

Mrs. Eddy says in Science and Health, "The time for thinkers has come" (Pref., p. vii). The time has arrived for a great awakening of thought to recognize the blessings of life, of health and happiness which are just at hand and which only require a correct adjustment of the human point of view, a stimulating of more righteous desire, and a right instruction in the method of the divine Principle and rules which have been revealed to this age, to overcome every evil and diseased thought and to disclose the kingdom of heaven which is just at hand.
