I wish to express my gratitude for the benefits derived from Christian Science. For a number of years I suffered with attacks of appendicitis, which kept recurring at intervals of one and a half to two years. The last time, about four years ago, I was in bed from October until December. The symptoms were very serious, the pain unbearable, while the baths to which I resorted failed to improve my condition. I did experience some help at times; then the pain would become all the more severe.

It was in this condition that Christian Science found me two and a half years ago. I attended the Wednesday evening meetings and Sunday services regularly, bought copies of Der Herold der Christian Science as well as German pamphlets, and read a good deal in them, till at last I realized that I had been freed from pain without my having had treatment. Again, in May, 1910. I was suddenly taken ill. I remarked to my husband that it seemed to me to be a return of the old trouble, and he immediately went to a Christian Science practitioner to ask for help. She came at once, gave me a treatment, and when she went away the fever left me, so that I was able to get up the next day. I had two more treatments, and have had no further attack of the disease.

The anemic condition from which I suffered had brought on sleeplessness and a sense of anxiety, so that I would often leave my bed at night and experience such fear that I thought I might lose my mind; but one treatment in Christian Science freed me of this trouble also. Sleeplessness, anxiety, and fear have disappeared, and the Master's words have been verified in my experience: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." For this understanding, as well as for the selfless love of our dear Leader, I am most deeply grateful.
