Shining a light on the weekly Bible Lessons published in the Christian Science Quarterly®
Ancient and Modern Necromancy, alias Mesmerism and Hypnotism, Denounced
All the people shall keep the watch of the Lord.
At the time of this mandate, a significant change in the Judahite monarchy is in the works (see vv. 1–3). To support this momentous event, everyone outside the Temple is charged with guarding its doors from unlawful entry.
Thus has the Lord
said to me:
“Go, set a watchman,
Let him declare what he sees.”
. . . . . . .
“Watchman, what of the night?
Watchman, what of the night?” The watchman said,
“The morning comes, and also the night.”
. . . . . . .
Your watchmen shall lift up their voices,
With their voices they shall sing together;
. . . . . . .
For the Lord
has comforted His people,
He has redeemed Jerusalem.
The Lord
has made bare His holy arm In the eyes of all the nations;
And all the ends of the earth shall see
The salvation of our God.
