Thank you for Theodore S. Arrington’s article, “To combat divisive thinking, consider Jonah,” in the July 27, 2020, Sentinel.
As I was feeling impatient about the COVID mandates for masks, I realized I had not felt compassion for those dealing with the pandemic. Like Jonah feeling more pity for the vine that withered than compassion for the people of Nineveh who had repented, I needed more compassion for health-care personnel and for families facing fear and loss. Compassion poured into my heart for all dealing with the pandemic.
