Helpful reminder
[“Dissolving ‘unnatural reluctance,’ ” Charles Cohn, March 24, 2014, Sentinel]
Thanks for this helpful reminder not to let untruths grow or remain in my thought.

Embracing the new
I’ve spent a lifetime pushing myself, feeling pressure to pick up the pace, and being disappointed when I didn’t reach specific goals. I was finally ready for the messages presented in the Sentinel, “Beyond keeping score” (March 3, 2014). And Roger Gordon got my attention with the observation that we sometimes “[entertain] human ideals that [aren’t] achievable” (“SAT season, school, and prayer that relieves pressure”). By the time I got to the editorial (“Are you good enough?”), I realized how ridiculous it is to judge our performance and satisfaction by others’ examples and expectations. I am finally ready to change my approach, listen in humility to God as I set my goals, and quit thinking of myself as running in a rat race! The ideas in this Sentinel prepared my thought to let go of the worn-out old and embrace the new. Thank you all.

Ample tools for growth
It’s hard to put into words what The Christian Science Journal, Sentinel, and Monitor, and “Your Daily Lift” mean to my goal of daily spiritual ascension initiated by the Christian Science Bible Lessons. They are so inspiring! It makes my day when I find one of these in my mailboxes, standard or virtual. Each article and message speaks directly to me. I devour each article, sometimes studying it more than once. It is such a joy to be a Christian Scientist and be so amply provided with tools for daily growth.
That said, I must mention, “The most valuable instruction I ever had” by Evelyn Brookins (March 3, 2014). I have enjoyed the series, “The Touch Of Class,” which reminds me of my own superb Christian Science Primary class experience. This article touched my heart with the profound statement, “I came home with a solid concept that evil, error, any discord, was unreal because it was unknown to God and because God, the only creator, had made everything from His own wisdom, power, and perfection. I saw that it was necessary to begin every metaphysical treatment with this realization.” Just so helpful.
The synergy of these indispensable tools is one explanation of the loved Bible verse, “All things work together for good” (Romans 8:28 ).

Many fine covers
I love all the inspiration and healing in the periodicals. You also have many fine covers. But I especially loved the cover of the January 6, 2014, Sentinel. Every time I glance at that issue on the coffee table, I can silently affirm, yes, that’s right—the body is not the boss!
