To think independently

I WAS A STUDENT in my final year of undergraduate studies when I saw Monty Python's Life of Brian. A memorable scene in the movie has Brian—who has been mistaken for a messiah—trying to reason with the huge crowd following him.

He shouts at them, "You've got to think for yourselves! You're all individuals!"

"Yes," the crowd shouts back in unison, "we're all individuals."
