In 1991 I injured my back at work when I accidentally struck it against a metal protrusion. I could barely stand or speak, and experienced the symptoms of shock. It felt as though something in my back had been pushed out of place.
My boss was present and remarked that a back injury was certainly unfortunate with my vacation coming up in a few days. It was late in the day, and I made my way home with difficulty.
I had the idea that if I could just stretch out fiat on the floor, I would be more comfortable and could think more clearly. But no position was comfortable. From the floor I called a Christian Science practitioner who began to pray for me at once. She asked me to call her back in an hour.
