It is good to feel that one is learning each day a little more of the healing power of Truth as the study and practice of Christian Science teaches it.

While hurrying through a subway, I was struck very heavily across the face. For a moment I felt stunned, but I quickly regained poise as I declared silently that nothing had, in truth, hurt me, God's spiritual child and reflection. A wave of joyous gratitude replaced the dazed condition. I then noticed that I had run into a large, heavy ladder being carried by a man lie was preparing to come to my aid. I hastily assured him I was quite all right, and we continued our separate ways. On reaching my office I quickly cleaned my face. I knew my positive stand for Truth at the moment of impact with the ladder had healed my own thought, but I prayed joyously to know I could manifest only a picture of harmony and well-being to all who saw me.

However, several hours later one colleague inquired if I knew my face was grazed and discolored. Several others declared various results would be more obvious the day following. I denied this lie immediately and gently and firmly, mentally and verbally, reversed their well-intentioned but erroneous predictions. I worked, as we are instructed in Christian Science, to know there would be no evidence of this collision, which had never happened to God's perfect reflection, man, and that neither I, nor they, would have any knowledge or remembrance of the event. And so it proved. The following day no thought of aftereffects presented themselves to me or to them, and consequently no reference was made to aftereffects.
