An expression of love and a very firm declaration of complete reliance on God healed my mother, and I am deeply grateful. About seven years ago we were attending a family reunion, when Mother was accidentally knocked down by a grandson who was playing football. Mother spent a very severe night hemorrhaging badly. I am very grateful for my sister, a Christian Scientist, who spent the night with Mother.

In the morning another sister and a brother, who are not Christian Scientists, felt that unless Mother received medical help recovery would be impossible. Mother did not want such help, but they thought she was in no condition to know what she wanted and that a doctor should be called. Realizing the importance of harmony and of consideration for one another, my sister and I decided that, if Mother would agree, we could call a doctor to allay the fears of our sister and brother.

Mother agreed, and we told our brother when he came later in the morning. Immediately he wanted her to agree to go to the hospital for blood transfusions or any other attention the doctor felt she might need. Mother said: "Son, I love you; I love all my children, but God took care of me all these years. He will take care of me now. I am staying in my home." "All these years" at that time was seventy-six. Mother is now in her eighties.
