It is with the heartfelt hope that our experience will help someone else that this testimony is written.

Christian Science brought healing of grief as well as a deeper appreciation of the definition of "children" found on page 582 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy when two of our three children passed on in infancy. The definition reads, "The spiritual thoughts and representatives of Life, Truth, and Love." Fear and false responsibility had to be eliminated, and our understanding of God as Father-Mother had to be made practical.

After the second experience of losing a child, peace did not come for many months; but with each day's study of the Bible and Science and Health and with the reading of articles in the periodicals, I gained greater understanding of man, made in God's image and likeness, and of the fact that "there is but one creator and one creation" (Science and Health, p. 502). As I was studying the Quarterly Lesson-Sermon one morning, the thought came to me that I would be ready to have another child when I found freedom from a human sense of the birth process and desired to have the baby born at home. For several days I searched Mrs. Eddy's writings for her statements on creation, man, birth, freedom. This was an inspiring and rewarding study; and then I left the matter with God.
