I had the blessed privileges of attending the Christian Science Sunday School from the time I was a young child and of seeing many proofs of the healing power of Science in my family as I grew up. Since my marriage my own home has been greatly blessed by Christian Science.

Several years ago, as I was cleaning the inside of my oven with a strong chemical sold commercially, I splashed some of the liquid in one of my eyes. Instantly I declared that God is the only power there is. I declared audibly "the scientific statement of being," which is found on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and which includes this sentence: "All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation, for God is All-in-all."

There were moments of great fear accompanied by a severe burning sensation in the eye. But as I repeatedly turned my thought to the wonderful truths of that statement, the fear subsided, and so did the burning sensation. By the time I came to the conclusion of the statement, "Spirit is God, and man is His image and likeness. Therefore man is not material; he is spiritual," I felt completely free of any sense of accident. There was no more pain, and with great joy I completed my task of cleaning the oven.
