Hearing "the 'still, small voice' of Truth"

Today, because there is great need, many people are listening for God's voice. The thought receptive to the teachings of Christian Science hears the voice of Truth, God; and the humble heart of the newcomer to this Science feels its redemptive and healing effect, its peace and harmony, even before fully understanding it. Mrs. Eddy says: "The effects of Christian Science are not so much seen as felt. It is the 'still, small voice' of Truth uttering itself." Science and Health, p. 323;

Many instances are related in the Bible in which men, under dire circumstances, instinctively prayed to God for guidance and received an answering angel message. Acting in accordance to its commands, they were delivered from whatever the specific difficulty was at that particular time. The still small voice came to Elijah when he was on Mount Horeb, and he was given strength to complete his journey. Scriptural accounts are helpful to us today when we face similar situations as we tread the pathway from sense to Soul. We who have been clearly taught by the written word of both the Bible and Science and Health, know that man, the image of God, has all good by reflection. Whatever the specific need may be, we have all sufficiency, for, as Paul said, "Our sufficiency is of God." II Cor. 3:5;

The still small voice is ever speaking to men, but at times the clamorous material senses shut out Truth's voice. If carnal suggestions say that we lack spiritual understanding and strength to overcome fleshly ills, we must assert our God-derived supremacy and silence them. Strength and understanding are in Spirit, God, not in matter.
