I became a student of Christian Science...

I became a student of Christian Science thirty-three years ago, and during these years I have relied entirely on God for help. In my first testimony, which appeared in the Sentinel of April 17, 1926, I expressed gratitude for my first healing. Now I wish to thank God for the manifold measure of good that has come to me since then. I have had many healings, two of which I should like to relate.

A few years ago I became ill with influenza, and it was necessary to call a practitioner. My thought was troubled and fearful, but as I talked with the practitioner I became calm and felt the assurance of God's presence. As a consequence my fear departed, and I was healed of the disease. I am very grateful to the practitioner who helped me at that time.

When I was visiting my niece in a distant city I sprained my ankle. I immediately said "the scientific statement of being," found on page 468 of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy. The pain lessened, and soon I forgot all about the incident. However, that evening the ankle became very painful and swollen, and I could not bear down on my foot. I reached for Science and Health, which was lying on the table near me, and opened it to page 391, where I read the following sentence: "Banish the belief that you can possibly entertain a single intruding pain which cannot be ruled out by the might of Mind, and in this way you can prevent the development of pain in the body."
