It is with the deepest sense of...

It is with the deepest sense of gratitude that I want to share with others the proof I have had of the presence and power of the Christ, Truth. For many years before I came into Christian Science I was a very sick woman. The doctor said I had diabetes, high blood pressure, and a weak heart. I was a slave to insulin and was not permitted to eat any sweets or any food with salt in it, nor was I allowed to do any housework. Because of severe headaches, I took pills several times a day.

One day I decided that I should like to go to work, thinking this might take my mind off my trouble; so I got a position. During the first week I fainted. When I revived, my manager, who was a very kind person, talked with me. When I told her how sick I had been, she took a Sentinel out of her bag and asked me to read it. Indignantly I told her that I had a very sick headache and that it was ridiculous to think that by my reading this little magazine all my pains would disappear. She turned to the testimonies and asked me to read them. I did so, but did not then accept Christian Science. I still kept having medical treatment, although I gained no relief.

This sweet woman had much compassion for me. She took me to Wednesday evening testimony meetings at a Church of Christ, Scientist, and to lectures. One day I decided to try Christian Science, and I went to see a practitioner not far from my home. She was loving and kind, and she listened patiently to my tale of woe. Very tenderly she asked me if I believed in God. I replied that I did. Then she said that since we cannot serve two masters, I would have to turn to God completely and correct my thinking. She told me that by all means I should study the Lesson-Sermon in the Christian Science Quarterly every morning.
