"THE VESTURE OF LIFE IS TRUTH"

How often mankind accepts the outward sense of things without protesting, or even pausing to discern the true state of things. In Christian Science we learn that all things real are in God and therefore reflect the nature and quality of Him who is Love and Life. Mankind would therefore do well, before accepting material evidence as true, to measure it by eternal Truth.

To discover what the facts are it is helpful to ponder Mary Baker Eddy's words in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures." She writes (p. 277): "The realm of the real is Spirit. The unlikeness of Spirit is matter, and the opposite of the real is not divine,—it is a human concept. Matter is an error of statement. This error in the premise leads to errors in the conclusion in every statement into which it enters. Nothing we can say or believe regarding matter is immortal, for matter is temporal and is therefore a mortal phenomenon, a human concept, sometimes beautiful, always erroneous."

Eternal Truth is unchanging, undying, forever complete, and always at the point of perfection. Accidents or disease cannot alter Truth, and we can demonstrate this fact or reality now by refusing to accept material sense testimony and pausing long enough to discern and lay hold on the true state or spiritual fact. We learn in Christian Science of the infinitude of God, Truth; and to be infinite, Truth not only must be eternal, but must also fill all space. This leads to the conclusion that error is not true and is nowhere to be found in the allness of Spirit, God. Man, then, can be conscious only of the infinitude of God's presence, expressed in health and eternal perfection.
