REMEMBER GOD

It is cause for much gratitude that humanity is realizing more and more that man's real help comes from God. Even though sometimes war or some sorrow wakens one and turns his gaze in the right direction, the awakening is good; for, whatever the cause, one cannot turn to God without gaining enlightenment and hope.

The writer will never cease to be grateful for her experiences on an ambulance train during the last year of World War II. Many times members of the British and American forces, as well as German prisoners, talked to her about the Bible and told her how prayer had helped them in difficult situations. The talk often turned to the words and works of Christ Jesus, and the writer tried to explain that the same Christly element which enabled Jesus to heal is here today for those who study the Bible in the light of spiritual understanding. She pointed out that Christian healing is the perfect healing, for it heals not only disease but hate, poverty, fear, malice, aggressiveness, and other causes of disease and war.

Frequently during these talks some of the patients who were able to walk drew near. They listened with interest and often asked questions. These men were hungering for Truth, and some of them received the help they needed. Also, many had their first introduction to The Christian Science Monitor.
