In expressing my deep gratitude...

In expressing my deep gratitude for Christian Science I feel as King Solomon must have felt when he sang. "He brought me to the banqueting house, and his banner over me was love" (S. of Sol. 2:4). Truly. Love has guided me all the way.

I have had wonderful healings in Christian Science, and for every one I am deeply grateful; but the most outstanding to me was the healing of an eye injury. In getting out of my automobile I dropped my keys, and in stooping to pick them up, due to the darkness I did not see a piece of shrubbery nearby. The bush was of a thorny nature, and one of the thorns pierced m right eyeball. Immediately my eye became very much inflamed and the sight dim, and I expressed great fear.

A Christian Science practitioner took up the work for me immediately. I was tempted to look at the injured eye, but in obedience to the practitioner's wish, and with radical reliance on God, I instead fixed my gaze on the realities of Spirit. I was in public service work at the time and met many people all day; but very few referred to my eye, although to mortal sense it was much discolored. I was confident that the great love and power of God would lead me all the way. In about a week the eye was normal.
