Heavy burdens lift when the magnitude and goodness of Love are understood

"THE PEACE OF LOVE"

Because Mary Baker Eddy loved mankind, she prayed daily that all men might come to know the goodness of God, who is Love. In "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" she writes (p. 220), "Each day I pray: 'God bless my enemies; make them Thy friends; give them to know the joy and the peace of love.'"

To know this peace of love, one must come to know the true nature of God and man. God is Love and is the creator of all that really exists. Then man and the whole spiritual universe are made of the substance of Love. The Father-Mother God tenderly maintains His perfect creation as the perfect reflection of infinite good. Nothing but good has ever belonged to man, and since perfection is the everpresent fact, the real man expresses perfect Love. He is neither advancing toward Love nor going away from it, but is forever one with it, enjoying the freedom of this perfect Love, which is God.

Man is always at peace in God's love, for God is Mind, and in infinite Mind there is no space in which error can operate to foster hatred or distrust among men or nations. John assured us (I John 4:18), "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear." This is our standpoint from which to bless a fearful world. Mankind fears the false beliefs of the carnal mind. Therefore our prayers should affirm God's ever-presence and deny the carnal mind's claim to place and power until the darkness of error is replaced with the light of Truth and our brother man feels himself blessed. In reality, man is never fearful of man. How could one fear the image of Love?
