Words fail to express the gratitude I feel for Christian Science...

Words fail to express the gratitude I feel for Christian Science, for through it I have learned to love God instead of fear Him, and have had opened up to me that wonderful storehouse of Truth, the Bible. My growth in understanding has not always been along flowery paths, for many thorns have hidden among the blossoms and each one has had to be destroyed. About nineteen years ago I was the only one of a large family who was in the least interested in Christian Science, but since then dozens of relatives have been healed through this study. It is an endless chain of growth, those who have been healed, later healing and helping others.

Through the application of this great truth I have seen all sorts of sickness and sin perfectly and permanently overcome. After wearing glasses for a long time on account of what oculists called compound astigmatism of both eyes, I was healed through the study of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. Also through the study of this same book, as well as the periodicals and other authorized literature, I was healed of total deafness. Both these healings occurred many years ago and have been permanent.

To those who labor long and feel discouraged because they do not quickly find healing, I would say: Look up to the light, and the shadows will cease to be. I was eleven years being healed of one trouble, although in the meantime many other healings took place and, best of all, my whole life was being transformed. To a sickly, sour young woman who felt that the world was a very hard place to live in, Christian Science has brought health, peace of mind, and "a priceless sense of the dear Father's loving-kindness" (Science and Health, p. 366). From a feeling that I was of no use to myself or anyone else, I have come to rejoice each day, not only in being closer to the Giver of all good, but that I have been able to help others over the rough places. All that I have or ever hope to be I owe to Christian Science. Is it any wonder that gratitude wells up in my heart to that great Leader whose selfless life enabled her to discover this new-old truth, and who has mapped out the path for us with such wisdom and foresight that even a little child may without difficulty go forward in this Science? Only future generations can know the worth of our beloved Leader's work and sacrifice in giving to a waiting world the same Science which Jesus the Christ taught and demonstrated. I also wish to express my gratitude to the Board of Directors of The Mother Church for their unswerving devotion to Principle and for their service to all mankind. The wisdom of the changes made by them from time to time shows how the one Mind guides.
