If the sermon is correctly reported in the Tribune, the evangelist insinuates that Christian Scientists build upon Mrs. Eddy instead of Christ Jesus. Nothing could be farther from the truth. If he had been familiar with her writings he would never have made such a remark, for he would have known that Mrs. Eddy's teachings increase one's faith in the true and living God, and teach that mankind can only be saved "through Christ, through Truth, Life, and Love as demonstrated by the Galilean Prophet in healing the sick and overcoming sin and death" (Science and Health, p.497).

Christian Science is awakening a greater interest in and love for the Bible; it is reforming the drunkard; it is reclaiming the infidel; it is bringing surcease from sorrow. Not only is Christian Science reforming the sinner, but hundreds of thousands bear testimony that it has healed them of disease after material remedies had failed to do so, and these include ministers, physicians, judges, attorneys, bankers, business men, and many in the common walk of life.
