The Lectures

William D. McCrackan, M.A., a member of the Christian Science board of lectureship, delivered a free public lecture on Christian Science under the auspices of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, Boston, Mass., in the church edifice at Falmouth, Norway, and St. Paul streets. John C. Lathrop, first reader of The Mother Church, introduced the lecturer as follows:—

Nineteen hundred years ago Christ Jesus uttered these profound words: "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing." It has taken the intervening ages of earnest Christian development to prepare human thought to understand the true meaning of the significant distinction expressed in this utterance. The mission of Christian Science is many fold, and in the practical elucidation and demonstration of all of Jesus' sayings and promises, by revealing the sharp distinction between faith and spiritual understanding, matter and Spirit, which results in the complete healing of the sick and salvation of the sinner, Christian Science is fulfilling the universal demand of humanity for peace and purity, health and harmony.—The Christian Science Monitor.
