Among the Churches

Current Notes

New York. —The normal activities of the state committee on publication during the year 1913 have been greatly increased, so much so that the clerical force required to carry on the work has been more than doubled in the last twelve months. Our regular activities now include a direct supervision over matters growing out of state legislation, proposed or attempted, which would affect the Christian Science movement. Added to all this, the state office has systematically handled and looked after orders from all over the world for copies of the December number of The North American Review, and reprints of the article "Must Protestantism adopt Christian Science?" by "A Churchman." The reprints alone, ordered to date, number four hundred and eighteen thousand copies.—Correspondence.

Nevada.—During the year 1913 the work of the committee on publication in Nevada has been about double what it was in the preceding year. This work can be classified under three heads: the work with the newspapers, the work for preventing unjust legislation, and the work of distributing literature.—Correspondence.

Sacramento, Cal.—First Church of Christ, Scientist, had a booth at the state fair for the first time. It was attractive and in a fine locality, with appropriate signs. Besides the general distribution from the booth, the Monitor was personally presented to the exhibitors at their stands. There were given out some one thousand Monitors, five hundred Sentinels, two hundred Journals, and a few Herolds.
