I wish to express my gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me. To say that I am grateful is putting it very mildly. Christian Science found me in Hades mentally, one day drinking, the next paying my saloon debts; and a peculiar fact was, that the saloonkeeper got his money before the grocer did.

On Thanksgiving day I was able to express my gratitude to God, and to Mrs. Eddy, for the understanding I now have of heaven here on earth. It is over four years since I began the study of our beloved Leader's work, and the knowledge and spiritual understanding of the Bible obtained through the study of our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," has given me the sense of peace that passeth all understanding. Besides this, drinking, smoking, swearing, and many of the evils that flesh is heir to have been overcome. I enjoy the privilege of expressing my gratitude to our Leader, in doing and living to the best of my ability the way that Jesus requested,—to do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

A year ago some concentrated lye was accidentally thrown into my face, some of it entering one of my eyes. The pain seemed unberable, and the thought immediately came that I would lose my eyesight. I requested one of my assistants to lead me to my private office and leave me. I commenced to declare that in God was my sight, and within five minutes from the time of the accident the pain ceased and I opened my eyes. I then telephoned a practitioner to help me to overcome the outside thought. I did not lose any time from my business. In five days I looked for the first time into a mirror and examined my face and eye. The physical evidence was still very unpleasant, but on the following Wednesday, which was nine days after the accident, I was able to testify in church that the face and eye were perfectly healed in every way.
