Through mental over-exertion in my profession and excessive...

Through mental over-exertion in my profession and excessive use of cold baths, I became subject to a nervous disease. This was in the autumn of 1902, and all work soon became a burden to me, and insomnia and a feeling of anxiety had gained control over me to such an extent that I believed I would soon have to die.

My work, which had formerly been a source of joy to me, I could only perform with the greatest exertion. I had suffered for years from congestion and indigestion, and my condition was such that I did not know where to look for help. I went to a sanitarium but could not sleep, and noticed but very little improvement.

I then thought of a cousin who is a Christian Scientist and spoke to her. She had been afflicted with a similar ailment, and Christian Science had healed her. She took my case gladly and kindly, and I soon began to improve. I could sleep, my thoughts became clearer, the indigestion seemed to leave me, and to-day I am well and happy. I love to work, and I find great pleasure in working, and I enjoy everything.
