Niche filler

"Each individual must fill his own niche in time and eternity"—Mary Baker Eddy, Retrospection and Introspection, p. 70

For years I thought I had to be
What someone else had planned for me.
But now I see the grand design
Allows a path uniquely mine.

It doesn’t have to be the same,
The way we praise His precious name.
God in His mercy leaves a space
For every deed of active grace.

And so to meet my every need,
I follow where the Christ will lead.
The road I travel is not dim;
It is the safest way to Him.

An honest heart is quite enough
To earn a taste of Spirit’s cup.
And knowing that I’ve done my best
Self-doubt can now be put to rest.
