Broken arm healed
Originally written in Portuguese, this testimony first appeared in the November 2014 Portuguese, Spanish, French, and German editions of The Herald of Christian Science.
“Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger,” wrote Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 410). Today I know how true her words are. Trials compel us to grow spiritually, enabling us to better understand God’s love for us. This became clearer to me after a proof I had of God’s power and healing action in my life.
In early December 2010, after a car accident, I fulfilled the expectations of the police officers who worked on the accident report, and went to the hospital. The nurse who cared for me explained that the X-rays showed that my right arm was broken in three different spots. She recommended I undergo surgery. When I replied saying that I wanted to go home and receive treatment only through Christian Science prayer, she insisted, “But I want you to be able to use your right hand again.”
Although I knew I was free to have the bone set surgically, I felt confident in relying totally on Christian Science treatment. Both my daughter and son-in-law, who were with me, totally supported my decision to trust in prayer to find healing. Neither a cast nor braces were applied, nor did I take any medicine.
