THE SPIRIT OF GOD IN ACTION

THIS BIBLE LESSON TITLED, "SPIRIT," opens with the breath of God setting forth creation. From "the breath of the Almighty hath given me life" (Job 33:4, Golden Text), to our individual responsibility to "let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord" (Ps. 150:6, citation 20), we see the animating dynamic of God's spirit in action.

What is this "breath"? In Hebrew, the word is ruakh, meaning the spirit of God. God's messengers were said to be filled with the breath of God. When a prophet said, "Thus saith the Lord" (Isa. 44:2, Responsive Reading), his listeners knew that the spirit of God was breathing through him and giving him the message.

The Bible accounts in this Lesson show how the "infinite omnipresent Spirit" (Science and Health, p. 223, cit. 1) creates, heals, transforms, and liberates.
