2 COMMANDMENTS THAT ARE EVER NEW

Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

MOST SENTINEL READERS are pretty familiar with Christ Jesus' two great commandments. If you or I were asked to quote them, we probably could. And like most Christians we'd probably say we understood them and were trying to obey them. Maybe we'd honestly agree, though, that the meaning Jesus himself saw in these commandments could have far greater dimensions than the way we've generally been thinking about them.
