HIGHWAY RESCUE

After a winter ski trip in Canada, my family was driving back home in two cars. I was in the passenger seat, and while I was watching a movie on my laptop, our car hit a patch of ice. At first, the car remained in its lane but had only minimal traction. That was when I could only think of two words, prayer and God. I held on tightly to those two words, and they provided comfort, establishing for me God's presence and His protection.

Our car started to spin, and then it hit a snowbank and flipped sideways, before rolling back on its wheels and stopping right side up. Just over the snowbank was a cliff and a deep valley, so I was grateful the car hadn't picked up too much momentum—we were all safe

Although at that moment I didn't have a Science and Health or a Bible to look up any spiritual ideas, I was still able to pray to feel protected from harm, and to know this was true for my family, too. Everyone in the car was OK and practically unscathed.
