That opening narration—spoken over rugged mountain peaks, bending wheat fields, and shining silver seas—sets the scene for the first part of a six-hour presentation of American Experience and Frontline on PBS on three consecutive evenings beginning October 11.

God in America effortlessly interweaves archival footage, historical dramatization, and interviews with religious historians into a carefully researched and ambitious documentary exploring the ways in which religious ideas and religious experience have shaped the social, political, and cultural life of what has become the world's most religiously diverse nation.
