TO PROTECT AND NURTURE THE WORLD'S CHILDREN

"THE STREETS OF THE CITY shall be full of boys and girls playing in the streets thereof" (Zech. 8:5). Truly the sounds of children playing—safely—are among the sweetest. Sounds that lighten hearts, as spring bird-song evokes precious promises.

The protection of children, and of childlike innocence, cannot be taken lightly. Yet reports of bullying, street fights, murder, and armed child soldiers are all too commonplace in today's world. At the same time, fashion and advertising sometimes aggressively promote sensual and habit-forming products to younger and younger audiences.

In the face of such situations, it can be tempting to want to throw one's hands up, feel overwhelmed, or resort to complacency. To wonder where to begin to find solutions. But Christian Science maintains that the place to begin is with spiritual, scientific prayer, prayer from a heart that accepts God's ability to get His arms around it all. So that even violent memories can be washed clean.
