New trustees for the Library

The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity in Boston's Back Bay opened on September 29, 2002, as a place where people come together to explore the power of ideas throughout history to inspire individuals and change the world. It encourages visitors to search for life's deeper meaning and learn about the ideas, life, and achievements of Mary Baker Eddy, author of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures and Founder of the Church of Christ, Scientist.

Last month, the Library's trustees and advisors gathered at the Library to mark its second anniversary and to plan for its future. Virginia Harris, Chairman of the Library's Board of Trustees and of The Christian Science Board of Directors, and Walter D. Jones, Treasurer of the Library's Board of Trustees and of The Mother Church, thanked the trustees and advisors for the ways in which they had helped forward the vision and the programming of the Library, which is a world-class archival and research facility and a significant tourist destination.

Mrs. Harris mentioned that more than 215,000 visitors had come to the Library in the past two years, and the Library had presented over 100 programs to 30,000 people on site and to another 400,000 over the Web and C-SPAN television. She also announced the expansion of the Board of Trustees to nine members, including five new trustees:
