Gash gone in less than 24 hours

A nice lesson I've learned is that if I do something foolish, it doesn't have to affect me for the rest of my life. Here's one small example.

Two months ago I moved into my new apartment. One of the things that I took from my old apartment was a window air conditioner. When the movers and I finally freed the air conditioner from the window, I expected that it would take two of them to get it out to the moving truck. Instead, the one mover carried it out as if it were a toaster. "Why did I think that the air conditioner was so heavy?" I wondered.

At the new apartment, I asked the movers to leave the air conditioner out on the porch, while I tried to find a place for it inside. Then I totally forgot about it until that night when I went outside. I couldn't leave it out there, so I decided I needed to carry it the 15 feet necessary to get it inside the house. (After all, the mover was able to carry it without a problem, so why couldn't I?)
