Have a moment? Want to improve?

Even a moment spent in prayer can right your course.

In a typical workplace, telephones ring with urgency, associates need information yesterday, meetings trigger a flurry of faxes and e-mail. No time for second-guessing! As a matter of fact, there's apparently no time for anything but reacting. But—is there any time for prayer?

How long does prayer take? Just one moment of clear thinking can make all the difference in an otherwise hectic schedule. "Success in life depends upon persistent effort, upon the improvement of moments more than upon any other one thing," writes Mary Baker Eddy (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 230). This "improvement of moments" is so important.

One way to improve moments is prayer. Daily prayer greases the wheels of our mental machinery. Taking moments for quiet contemplation and spiritual listening equips us to handle pressure, tight schedules, and demanding circumstances. And such prayer will neutralize the "pressure cooker" feeling.
