The desired haven

No matter what storms we face in our lives, we can find genuine peace—now.

How reassuring it is to learn that no matter how turbulent or tempestuous our life may seem at this moment, the lighthouse of divine Truth is present to guide us safely into God's harbor of refuge and shelter.

The Psalmist was familiar with the upheavals of human experience but also knew the peace and calm that come from rising above them. And he tells us of God's response to those who call on Him for help: "They cry unto the Lord in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses. He maketh the storm a calm, so that the waves thereof are still. Then are they glad because they be quiet; so he bringeth them unto their desired haven." Ps. 107:28–30.

Then I had become friends with a man who showed me much love and kindness. In fact, I had begun to feel that he was the one individual with whom I could find lasting happiness. When the relationship did not work out as I had hoped, I found myself in a whirlpool of self-pity and depression.
