Twenty years ago I turned to Christian Science when I was in great distress. I was in a sad state physically and mentally. In fact, my doctor had told me that I was heading for a nervous breakdown. In addition, I was trying to deal with a relationship problem to which I could see no solution. So I asked an acquaintance, who I knew was a Christian Scientist, how I could get in touch with a Christian Science practitioner.

Ten years earlier I had read the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy, and although I had been very impressed and had thought this book held all the answers to a happy and peaceful life, I had not pursued study of it. Now, all at once, my need was so great that I felt I must ask for help in Christian Science. This I did, and help was what I certainly received.

I visited a practitioner and poured out my tale of woe. But after her explanation of the nature of God and of my oneness with Him, I came away completely uplifted! Over the next few months, with the practitioner's prayers and through my own study of Science, I was healed of sinusitis, a chronic throat condition, migraine and insomnia (that had plagued me for years), and a severe back condition for which I had been told I would need to wear a brace for the rest of my life.
