As a young man, I felt somehow there was more...

As a young man, I felt somehow there was more to living than what the human senses seemed to present. I was curious about the reason for my existence and the nature of God. At that particular period I stayed close to home. (I had a congenital heart condition, which had been diagnosed by our family doctor.) As a result, my life was extremely confined, and my mother seemed to be my whole world. When she became ill and passed on, the very bottom of my life appeared to drop out from under me.

However, as we read in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (p. 266): " 'man's extremity is God's opportunity.' "

A spiritual sense, which had been dormant, was awakened, and I had a strong desire to find out more about God. So I turned to the orthodox religion in which I had been raised but did not find any answers.
