THE BIG DAY

Bert had been going to school for two years. He enjoyed school, and he loved his teacher, Miss Lee. He liked all his schoolmates and enjoyed playing and studying with them. It was exciting to learn new things and great sport to join in the games at recess. In fact, he just liked everything about school, and he never was absent.

At home he was learning a lot, too. Every morning while he ate his breakfast, his mother would tell him a Bible story or read him one from his own red Bible. Sometimes in explaining a story to him, his mother would also read to him from the other red book, which he kept with his Bible. It's called Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science named Mary Baker Eddy. In his Sunday School the class would read from both of these books. From the books Bert had learned to know and love God.

It made Bert feel happy and safe to know God and to think of himself as His beloved child. God loved him and he loved God. He felt sure that was why he had not been sick and hadn't needed to stay home from school.
