During World War II, while my husband was serving overseas, our baby daughter and I lived with his family. My introduction to Christian Science came while living with them.

Although my religious background was of another denomination, I attended the Church of Christ, Scientist, regularly with my mother-in-law. I know that it was during that period of my life that I gained a deep desire to know more of God. It was not until many years later however that I began the serious study of Christian Science.

As a young girl I had been rather frail and sickly. I had a kidney ailment and was anemic. Through medication these conditions would seem to clear up for a time, but they always recurred. I also suffered with severe headaches and hay fever. For many years I relied on pills and a physician's injections for relief of the hay fever, and these always left me very weak and nervous.
