There was a knock on the door, and Jane answered it. It was Mr. Dudley, the farmer who delivered eggs each week. Under one arm he clutched a little brown Irish terrier.

"Would you like to keep her?" he asked.

Jane took the pup in her arms. She had longed for a dog of her own and had trusted God with her desire. Now it was just as if He was sending one to her.
