Enjoy Being Alone with God!

People in today's world appear to have little desire to be alone. Even if one desires solitude and quietness, he often has obstacles to eliminate—radio, television, continual music in business establishments. If men but knew the unspeakable peace, the grand possibilities and joy that come from quietness filled with a progressive understanding of God and man's relationship to Him, they would cut through every obstacle and make intelligent preparation to be quiet and alone with God. They would agree with the words of Thoreau: "I love to be alone. I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude."  Waldon, Chap. V;

Christ Jesus recognized the need for aloneness. He withdrew from the multitude to a mountain or the wilderness to acquaint himself more intimately with God and man's eternal unity with Him. From these enriching hours spent with God came priceless and timeless treasures for mankind—the treasures of the Beatitudes and the Lord's Prayer. What release from the tensions and frustrations of materialism these teachings can bring to anyone who is willing to follow them—to put off the old man and put on the new through the recognition that man is not an imperfect mortal but a perfect immortal, the very child of God!

Jesus companioned with the multitude, not solely to teach but to put into practice what he knew of God. His understanding of man as linked to his Maker enabled him to heal the ills of the multitude. His life was the exemplification of divine opportunity, which is available for everyone. Revelation must always be followed by activity. One who listens will be shown how to serve God and mankind and in that holy activity will never feel alone.
