With joy and gratitude to God I wish to testify to the numerous blessings that my family and I have received through Christian Science. Through its religious teachings I have learned to lean on God under all circumstances. I have never had recourse to medicine, either for myself or for our two children, now aged twenty and twenty-three years. Since our marriage my husband has also turned to Christian Science for healing. God has been our only physician in all the physical difficulties that have presented themselves.

When I was a young girl, I was afflicted for several years with a goiter that caused me extreme mental and physical discomfort. I was urgently advised by those around me to undergo surgery. However, I turned to God with confidence, convinced of His all-power. As I advanced along the road of spiritual growth, this error was erased from my thought. At the same time character faults such as self-will, pride, and bitterness were gradually eliminated from my consciousness. The goiter disappeared without my knowing the precise moment of the healing. This experience verified Mary Baker Eddy's affirmation in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures (p. 411), "The procuring cause and foundation of all sickness is fear, ignorance, or sin." At the same period, having replaced thoughts of rebellion and hate with thoughts of love toward one who I thought acted with hypocrisy and maliciousness, and having seen her as the perfect child of God, I was freed from a distressing skin infection on my face. This has shown me how important it is to obey the exhortation in Proverbs (4:23): "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life."

Several years ago I sprained my foot quite seriously in a skiing accident. It was deformed and very painful, and in spite of the prayerful work done, this state persisted for several weeks, making it impossible for me to put my foot to the ground. However, I remained fully confident of the efficacy of divine power to heal.
