Always in God's Care

[For children]

Behind Mardi's house there were woods and a stream. Here she, her sister, Ruth, and their friends often played. Sometimes they pretended they were Indians. That was easy because they could build a tepee with the fallen branches and even make pottery out of the clay they dug up from the banks of the stream.

Mardi and her sister went to a Christian Science Sunday School and often told their teacher about the fun they had. She would remind them that God was with them wherever they might be. God is Love, and so they could think of Him as their Father-Mother, always present to care for them. As the Bible says, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Ps. 46:1;

One winter day Mardi and Ruth were playing in the woods after school and climbed up into a tree. When they were coming down, Mardi jumped to the ground easily, but Ruth's foot caught between two branches. Mardi reached up and tried to help, but she couldn't make the foot move. It was caught tight.
