It is probably not possible, in serious work such as theology purports to be, to specify how one's mind is changing. . . .

The great critical questions posed by liberalism and humanism about cultural relativity, the relation of Christianity to the other world religions, "mythological" vs. "scientific" thinking, etc.—questions which could be more or less ignored or overlooked during the crises of recent decades—have come into view once again and are demanding attention.
