A College Student Writes

True Friendship

One of the wonderful experiences of college life is the opportunity presented to a student who is a Christian Scientist to become a member of a Christian Science college organization. The joys and responsibilities of active membership pave the way for a fuller understanding of the value of branch church membership.

Membership in a college organization brings more rewards than does any other campus activity. Participation in the weekly testimony meetings, working with the other members in preparing for a lecture, and taking part in other organization activities enrich the college student's experience and help him to increase and broaden his study and application of Christian Science. A great blessing he can receive from organization membership is the making of friends among his fellow members, for here is a group of people to whom Jesus' words might be applied, "Whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother." Matt. 12:50;

Even though each member may be involved in a different area of academic study, yet all of them have something in common that helps them to make real and lasting friendships in spite of the transience of college life. They share a common purpose of uniting together to uplift the whole tone of campus life and to help free the world from the wrong thinking that infests it.
